Xi'an, Luoyang and Kaifeng were all capitals in their day. High-speed rail links them, so even a short trip packs in a lot of history.
The route runs east from Xi'an. You start with the Terracotta Army and the city wall, see the grottoes in Luoyang, explore Kaifeng's old streets, and finish in Zhengzhou.
Your guide meets you at the airport or station. You leave your bags and walk the city wall and the Muslim Quarter on your first evening.
See the pits of the Terracotta Army in the morning. In the afternoon, visit the pagoda and a nearby temple. The evening is free.
Take the high-speed train to Luoyang. See the cliffside Buddhas of the Longmen Grottoes, then an old temple.
Continue by high-speed rail to Kaifeng. Explore the rebuilt Song-dynasty streets and the old ruins of the former capital.
Transfer to Zhengzhou and finish at the airport. Returning to Xi'an instead can be arranged.
