Mogao Caves → Mingsha Mountain → Yumen Pass → Yardang, 3–4 days
Small-group Dunhuang travel with a private guide and vehicle. See the Mogao Caves, Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Lake, Yumen Pass and the Yardang landforms.
Dunhuang is the desert town where the Silk Road split. The Mogao Caves, the dunes at Mingsha Mountain, and the old passes at Yumen and Yangguan each show a different face of the region.
We run Dunhuang as a small group of 2 to 8 guests. A private vehicle and a dedicated guide travel with you, and we operate with no shopping stops and no forced extras. Ask us for a quote.

| Period | What to expect |
|---|---|
| March–May | Warm by day but cool in the morning and evening. Sandstorms blow on some days, so a mask helps. |
| June–August | Some days top 35°C. UV is very strong, so keep midday activity light and move in the early morning and evening. |
| September–October | Cool and clear, the best window for desert sites. Nights get much colder. |
| November–February | Cold, with lows near -10°C. Fewer visitors make it peaceful, but the wind makes it feel colder than it reads. |
