Zhangjiajie forest area, Tianmen Mountain and Fenghuang, 4–5 days
Small-group Zhangjiajie travel with a private guide and vehicle. See Tianmen Mountain, Yuanjiajie Mountain, Bailong Elevator, Baofeng Lake and Fenghuang, no shopping stops.
Zhangjiajie sits in northwestern Hunan, known for hundreds of sandstone pillars rising from the valley floor. Tianmen Mountain and the national forest area are the core, and many trips also take in nearby Fenghuang.
We run Zhangjiajie as a small group of 2 to 8 guests. A private vehicle and a dedicated guide travel with you, and we operate with no shopping stops and no forced extras. Ask us for a quote.
A mountain beside the city, reached by cable car. Glass walkways and cliff paths run along the top.
One of the densest clusters of stone pillars in the forest area. Peaks stack up one behind another like a film set.
The area next to Yuanjiajie Mountain, known for natural stone bridges and narrow ridge paths. The walking is long, so it takes some stamina.
A glass elevator built against the cliff. It covers a lot of height in a short ride and cuts the route considerably.
A lake at the foot of the peaks where you tour by boat past cliffs and gorges. The clear water gives good reflections.
A huge natural arch near the top of Tianmen Mountain. Stairs and escalators connect the levels.
An old riverside town reached by road from Zhangjiajie. Its riverside houses and evening lights are the highlight.
| Period | What to expect |
|---|---|
| March–May | Mist often fills the valley, so the pillars seem to float above cloud. Rain is frequent, so pack a raincoat. |
| June–August | Temperatures climb to around 30°C and it feels humid. The mountains are cooler than the city, but showers come often. |
| September–November | The clearest skies and widest views of the year. Autumn color deepens the mountainside. |
| December–February | Temperatures drop below freezing and snow settles on the peaks. The winter scenery is special, but cable cars and paths can close, so check schedules. |
Fly from Incheon to Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport, direct or with a connection.
Zhangjiajie West station links the region to Changsha and nearby cities by high-speed rail. Transfers between the station and the city are by road.
Inside the mountains you use shuttle buses, cable cars and the elevator. Your guide plans the order to cut waiting time.
Arrive in Zhangjiajie, rest at a city hotel, and see the Tianmen cable car lights in the evening.
Ride up Tianmen Mountain for the glass walkway and Tianmen Cave.
Take the Bailong Elevator into the forest area, then walk Yuanjiajie Mountain and Yangjiajie.
Boat on Baofeng Lake, then drive to Fenghuang for the evening lights before finishing.
We operate with no shopping stops and no forced extras. We do not add shop visits or paid add-ons to the itinerary.
Yuanjiajie Mountain and Yangjiajie involve real distance. We use cable cars and the elevator to cut the walking, but comfortable shoes are a must.
Early morning as the mist lifts, and the late afternoon as the sun drops. In peak season the platforms get busy, so your guide times the visits.
Using the elevator and cable cars, parents can join comfortably. There are still many steps, so we keep the days short to match their stamina.
Always re-check the latest conditions on the official sites before you travel.
