Guilin sits in the Guangxi region, known for the sharp peaks rising along its rivers. Many trips combine a Li River cruise with the town of Yangshuo and the Longji rice terraces.

We run Guilin as a small group of 2 to 8 guests. A private vehicle and a dedicated guide travel with you, and we operate with no shopping stops and no forced extras. Ask us for a quote.

Key sights

Li River Cruise

The classic cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo. The boat threads between the peaks.

Yangshuo West Street

The main street in Yangshuo. Lights come on in the evening and shops and restaurants fill up.

Yulong River Bamboo Raft

A bamboo raft trip down the river. The water is clear and the peaks sit close.

Xianggong Hill Viewpoint

A lookout over the bend of the Li River. Sunrise mist makes it especially good.

Longji Rice Terraces

Terraces stepping up the hillsides. When the paddies are flooded, the fields mirror the sky.

Xingping Old Town

A small riverside village on the Li River. It is a fine spot to view the peaks from the bank.

Ten-Mile Gallery

A scenic road near Yangshuo. Rent a bike and ride between the peaks.

Season by season

PeriodWhat to expect
March–MayMist often fills the valley, so the peaks fade into cloud. Rain is frequent, so pack a raincoat.
June–AugustHot and rainy. Higher water makes the cruise more dramatic, but plan for showers.
September–OctoberClear and cool, best for cruising and cycling. The terraced fields look their best.
November–FebruaryChilly with many overcast days. Fewer visitors make the river quieter.

Getting there

Flights

Fly from Incheon to Guilin Liangjiang International Airport, direct or with a connection. Yangshuo has no airport, so you continue by road.

High-speed rail

Guilin links to Guangzhou and Guiyang by high-speed rail, and Yangshuo has its own station.

Local transport

The Li River is traveled by boat, while Yangshuo and the terraces are reached by private vehicle. In town you walk or cycle.

FAQ

Are there shopping stops?

Which part of the Li River is best?

The stretch from Guilin to Yangshuo is the classic route. Your guide times the boat and picks the quieter hours.

Is it good for children?

The bamboo raft and cycling are favorites with children. We fit life jackets and keep rafting to safe sections.

Can the itinerary change if it rains?

Cruises usually run in rain. If mist gets too thick, we adjust the viewpoint plans.
